America Recycles Day

America produces a lot of waste. In fact, we are one of the most wasteful countries in the world according to the Natural Resources Defense Council. If we want to make a difference, we need to begin changing our habits now. Luckily, America Recycles Day is just around the corner!

Established by the National Recycling Coalition in 1997, America Recycles Day is celebrated every November 15th and stresses the importance and impact of recycling properly and purchasing recycled products when possible. Events are also held across the nation to educate and encourage others to take action. Although America Recycles Day is only celebrated once a year, recycling should occur all year round and there are many ways to do it!

Create your own recycling system at home
Separate different bins and label them as trash, paper, cans, bottles, and cardboard. When your bins are filled, take them to a nearby recycling center. Learn how to create your own DIY Home Recycling Program: DIY Home Recycling Program

Shop second hand
Donate your clothes and purchase them from your local thrift store so they can be reused, instead of disposed wasted.

Purchase recycled materials
Doing so will prevent materials from becoming waste. There are many every day products being made from recycled materials today including jewelry, clothes, reusable containers, water bottles and more.
